Chance “The Cobra” Ellison may just be the best Triple Threat the league has seen since Rachel “The Crusher” Cushing retired in 2019. The Korruption powerhouse is a two-time Teams Champion with Team Korruption and the winner of last season’s Innergeekdom Tournament. The only thing holding him back is a mid-tier record in the Singles Division, something he plans to rectify this season.
Ellison (5-4) played a perfect game to beat “The Delinquent” Lon Harris by Technical Knockout in a 20-14 rout that earned him his second win of the year.
“[Playing in three divisions] is impossible, unless you’re me,” Ellison said. “I’m the only one active- Rachel Cushing could do it, but she’s not here anymore. I’m the only one active who can do what I’m doing right now.”
The Cobra had control of the match from moment one. He began the match perfect and carried that level of play throughout after getting out to a 9-8 lead at the end of Round One.
In the top of the second, Ellison chose to keep his momentum going and spun first to kick off Round Two. The Cobra would go on to spin a favorable category in Eddie Murphy and continue his perfect streak to an 8-PT pickup. With the Korruption lead expanded to 9 PTS, Harris was not yet out of the match, until he spun the category of Dreamworks. The Delinquent started strong, but 2 steals for 3 total points put him in a deep 20-12 hole heading into the final round.
Down 8 PTS, Harris needed all 3 questions to take the lead for the first time in the match, and things began to look up once he hit his 2-pointer. Unfortunately, that was where his luck stopped as a difficult 3-point question would prove to be too much, handing Ellison the 20-14 win via TKO.
“I feel great,” Ellison said after the win. “I feel great winning the match and great doing a charitable service because with this loss S.W.A.G. can continue their tank for the #1 pick next year. I’m helping you.”
Korruption earned just 2 PTS following Ellison’s performance which brings them to within 4 of the second-place Finstock Exchange. Ellison also removes a point from S.W.A.G. who now just sit a point out of last place ahead of The Usual Suspects and The Stars, the two factions tied for the bottom slot with just 11 PTS scored in 2021.
Ellison does not have the next match officially scheduled as he continues to make his way to the Singles Championship, but Jeff “The Insneider” Sneider was floated as a possible next opponent. Nevertheless, The Cobra is not worried about the opponent so long as it gets him closer to the belt.
“Bring it on,” Ellison said. “I will take out anyone and everyone I have to take to get to that belt. Nothing is going to stop me, not even Jeff Sneider.”
